Distress Management Services

Emotional distress is a common experience in cancer. Sadness, worry, anger, and isolation may occur throughout the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery process.

At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we offer counseling, consultation, and medication management services to help patients and their adult family members better cope with distress.

We help with a wide range of emotional and behavioral problems.  While every individual reacts differently to the challenges of cancer and survivorship, common reasons to seek distress management assistance include:

Common Reasons to Seek Assistance

Loneliness and isolation
Loss of control
Anger and irritability
Worry, panic, and anxiety
Sadness and depression
Heavy alcohol or drug use
Loss of interest in most activities
Pulling away from friends and family
